Your Town... Uptown!
Thank you for your interest in the Uptown Transportation Study. After two years of investigating, researching and planning, the recommendations of the study were approved by the OKI Board of Directors in January 2007. Click here for an Executive Summary of the study recommendations. It is important to note that the recommendations of this study will be carried forward for additional refinement once funding has been identified.
The Uptown area consists of Avondale, Clifton, Corryville, East Walnut Hills, Evanston, Mt. Auburn, North Avondale, Walnut Hills, and Clifton Heights, University Heights and Fairview (CUF). The tremendous growth associated with this part of the region has created pressure on the existing communities and the related infrastructure. For this reason, Uptown business and community leaders have asked that a transportation study be conducted. This study examines transportation needs in the Uptown area while taking into account the needs of Uptown residents, employees, and visitors. Particular attention has been paid to transportation and land use issues within Uptown, access to interstate highways that border Uptown and connectivity to the Cincinnati business district.
The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) was the lead on this project. However, there were a total of six partners identified that committed funds or services toward this project: City of Cincinnati, the Uptown Consortium, SORTA (Metro), Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), OKI and The AMOS Project.
Please take some time to browse this site. If at any time you have questions or comments about the study or the Uptown area, please feel free to contact us.
